Dr Ashish Jiwane
Paediatric Surgeon and Urologist
Dr Jiwane finished his medical school and General Surgical training from Nagpur, India. He was on top of his year and received Multiple Gold Medals including Anatomy and Surgery. He further finished his paediatric surgery training from Mumbai and moved to Australia, where he pursued paediatric surgery training in various teaching hospitals like Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, Westmead Children’s Hospital and at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
He is a staff specialist surgeon at SCH, Randwick and VMO at Prince of Wales, Private Hospital Randwick and Campbelltown Public and Private Hospitals. In addition, he is involved in overseas surgical and education programmes through RACS and Monash International.
Dr Jiwane is a Member of various National and international Paediatric Surgical, Urological and Oncological societies such as IAPS, ANZAPS, SPUNZA, USANZ, APAPU, PAPS, BAPS, IPSO, IPEG. He has over 40 publications in national and international scientific journals, chapters in textbooks and reviewer for multiple journals.
Dr Jiwane has expertise in laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery and has trained in Robotic surgery. He works with the IBD clinic at SCH Randwick to provide laparoscopic and single port MIS bowel surgery.
Special Interests
Dr Jiwane has keen interest in genital/ anorectal and complex urological surgery. His speciality is reconstructive Urology with congenital urological conditions such as PUJ obstruction, Vesicoureteral reflux, Renal Anomalies and Hypospadias.
Dr Carolyn Russell
Paediatric Surgeon
Dr Carolyn Russell is a Paediatric surgeon who trained at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne before completing her training at the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick.
Following a fellowship year in Sydney, Dr Russell spent time travelling in Europe, meeting with prominent surgeons to learn techniques in her areas of interest, chest wall surgery and thoracic surgery.
Dr Russell is a member of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), Australian & New Zealand Association of Paediatric Surgeons (ANZAPS), Chest Wall International Group (CWIG) and is a supervisor of paediatric surgical training at Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Dr Carolyn Russell has a special interest in the education of trainee surgeons.
Dr Russell is married and has four young children. She enjoys keeping fit, skiing and spending time with her family.
